Honorable Roy S. Moore
Roy S. Moore is married to Kayla, and they have four children: Heather, Ory, Caleb, and Micah. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point with a bachelor of science degree in 1969 and completed his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1977. Captain Roy Moore served in the U.S. Army as a company commander with the Military Police Corp in Vietnam. During his professional career, he became the first full-time Deputy District Attorney in Etowah County and served in this position from 1977 until 1982. In 1984, Chief Justice Moore undertook private practice of law in Gadsden. He became a judge of the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit of Alabama in 1992, and served until his election as chief justice of the Alabama Supreme Court in 2000. In 2003, Chief Justice Moore was removed from his position for standing up for the inalienable right to acknowledge God. The former chief justice lectures throughout the United States, teaching about America’s history and our right to acknowledge God, and he serves as the President of the Foundation for Moral Law in Montgomery, Alabama.
