The amazing William Wilberforce

The true story of William Wilberforce and the new movie about him, Amazing Grace (http://www NULL.amazinggracemovie NULL.com/), is the focus of Judge Moore’s column this week, Amazing perseverance (http://www NULL.worldnetdaily NULL.com/news/article NULL.asp?ARTICLE_ID=54684). The movie is so good especially because the David-and-Goliath political life of the anti-slavery champion Wilberforce is so compelling.  And for the modern voices in our culture wars—abortion, homosexual agenda, evolution—it’s also an inspiring example of a man who, spurred on by his love for God and for his fellow man, fought for decades in the British Parliament against all odds until justice was served: first in the abolition of the British slave trade and then in the outlawing of all slavery in the British Empire.

Judge Moore begins:

“Is there not a cause?” asked the young shepherd boy David as he prepared to fight the mighty giant Goliath (I Samuel 17:29). Down through the ages, men and women, like David, have taken up a cause to stand against all odds to fight for truth and righteousness.

In whatever battle for truth and righteousness we may find ourselves, like William Wilberforce, we must never give in.
